The event runs from Sept. 2 to Sept. 5 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel in the downtown area. Officials with the convention are expecting nearly 5,000 people to attend to the event.

The four-day event is packed with exhibits from more the 60 galleries, film screenings, cocktail parties, dinners and other performing art events. Last year was the first time for an event like this and it was very successful.

San Diego sees rise in tourism this summer

A new report shows that there has been a rise in tourism in the San Diego this summer.

According to the president of the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau, the tourism numbers have improved dramatically. The hotel occupancy rate has seen a 10 percent raise this year and is now up to 73.9 percent.

These large numbers come despite the down economy and a boycott that some people in Arizona are trying to push for people to not visit San Diego after they came out against Arizona’s new immigration law. Although some Arizonians are trying to boycott the area, many others are still visiting the area to escape the 120 degree heat in Arizona.
