San Diego Botanic Gardens celebrates Fall Festival

San Diego will be celebrating Halloween and Autumn by hosting a Fall Festival this Saturday at the Botanic Gardens.

The event has activities for children ages 2 to 12 and all ages are encouraged to wear costumes. Adults are asked to not wear costumes so that the children are not frightened.

There will be craft activities offered as well as a “Snap Tap and Sing” that is an interactive music making station that will be fun for kids and their family. Kids will be able to decorate small pumpkins and take pictures with a large pumpkin.

Whale watching in San Diego

Between the months of December and April, visitors and residents in San Diego have a unique opportunity to see the migration of California gray whales as they migrate from Alaska to the warmer water of California.

Every winter the whales come within miles of the San Diego coast on their 5,000-mile migration. This trip is the longest annual migration done by any mammal. During the peak times, there are as many as 200 whales per day that can be scene from San Diego coastline.

Libraries in North County host a variety of events

Libraries in the North County area are offering a variety of events this week for the whole family to take part in and enjoy.

The Teen Bridge Club will be holding a bridge tournament at the Solana Beach Branch location. Teens are encouraged to bring their friends and enjoy a fun and relaxing activity. Earlier the same day, there will be an adult bridge tournament for experienced bridge players.

The Encinitas branch library will be hosting yoga for teens and tweens, which is a four week program for ages 3 and up. The program begins at 3:30 on October 5. There will be a story time event for younger children at the Mission branch library from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on October 8.
