New killer whale show to premiere at SeaWorld

A new killer whale show is set to debut at at three SeaWorld marine parks, including San Diego.

SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment has not revealed any of the details on the new show, but they have said that it will not include interaction between the killer whales and trainers.

All shows that include interaction between trainers and whales were halted after the death of a whale trainer at the SeaWorld Orlando a little over year ago. Officials at SeaWorld realize that the attractions need to be revamped, but are do not want to make an attraction where interaction between whales and trainers are necessary.

British Airways adds flight to San Diego

British Airways has announced that they have added a daily non-stop flight to San Diego from London Heathrow.

This new flight comes with the joint business launch of American Airlines and Iberia and will begin in June 2010. The Vice President of passenger sales for the company has said that they have been waiting for 14 years to be able to offer a transatlantic option like this for their customers.

Equestrian Festival in San Diego aims to raise awareness for equine

The San Diego County Equestrian Foundation hosted their first House Expo and Fall Festival over the weekend.

The festival featured everything from a petting zoo, pony rides and demonstrations of calf roping and horse disciplines. Nearly 300 people came out to the Hunter Equestrian Center in Escondido to participate in the activities.

The foundation has only been around for about three months and was put together in order to work on developing equestrian-friendly ordinances by working with the County to update their general plan. The goal of the festival was to raise awareness of the importance of keeping rural areas for the equine to live and to give horse-lovers a fun activity to attend.

San Diego Beer Week 2010

San Diego celebrates beer week from November 4 through the 14 and is offering nearly 350 beer events occurring in San Diego County.

This past weekend, the San Diego Brewers Guild Festival was held at Liberty Station in order to jump start the beginning of the week. Every day a different event will be offered and different beers will be featured.

For example, AleSmith, Alpine, Green Flash, Avery, and Kern will each be offered at events. Multiple events and beer tastings are offered throughout the week, such as an event called a Weekend in Belgium which is a two day celebration of Belgian beer.

San Diego holds Jewish book fair this week

San Diego’s Jewish Community Center are having a book fair with multiple events for the whole family.

The events begin Wednesday with Mosab Hassan Yousef speaking about his book “Son of Hamas: A Gripping Account of Terror, Betrayal, Political Intrigue and Unthinkable Choices.” Thursday there are multiple events throughout the day beginning at 10 a.m. with a talk about “Capitalism and Jews.”

The events continue until 7:30 p.m. that evening. On Saturday Nov. 7, there is an event every hour throughout the day so that anyone can find something that they are interested in. The events continue until Nov. 16 giving members of the community plenty of time to fit the event in their schedule.
