Students of Design Institute of San Diego win second place in AIA contest

Two interior design students at the Design Institute of San Diego recently won second place at the 2011 American Institute of Architects competition for designing a train car.

The contest asked interior design students across California to design the interior of a train car that would be comfortable and appeal to the leisure market. The students had six hours to develop and create their design. The students then had to present their designs, using visual aids, to the judges. Over $1,000 of prize money was given out to the winners of the competition.

The Design Institute of San Diego is a private four year college that features majors in the arts, technology, and business.

Easter weekend brings charity event to the San Diego area

San Diego residents gear up for Coachella

Indio, California will be welcoming people from all over the country during Coachella, the three-day music festival that has drawn crowds to Indio for years, and San Diego residents will be taking up twenty percent of the crowd.

Bill Clinton in San Diego to Promote Global Change

Former President Bill Clinton will be in San Diego this weekend to promote his Clinton Global Initiative University program. The program focuses on finding ways people can participate in and create global change.

Clinton will be giving a speech at the University of California in San Diego on Saturday, followed by two more days of events that aim to make college students aware of the impact that they can have on global society. It has been estimated that 1,000 students will be attending the talk.

The former president will then move on to a San Diego food bank, where he will surprise hundreds of veterans and volunteers who go to the food bank daily with a special announcement.
