Plunge pool is scheduled to reopen today in Mission Beach

The Plunge pool at Mission Beach is scheduled to reopen to the public today after being closed for the last 1o months. The historic pool was closed due to the former owner being unable to pay for repairs that would keep the pool safe.

An authorization of $185,000 for repairs was granted, and a contractor just agreed to the work. That was the last step needed in order to reopen the indoor pool at Belmont Park to the public. Although, the money for the repairs will fix the short-term problems, an additional $1 million is necessary in order to keep the pool up and running.

The pool will be open today between the hours of 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. for individuals who are members of the athletic club. For non-members, the pool will be available between noon and 8 p.m. and will cost $7 a person. This weekend only, the Plunge will have a special where admission per person will be 25 cents.
