Upcoming Events this Fourth of July in San Diego County

This year’s Fourth of July lands on a Monday, so it’s probably going to be a three or four day weekend for you and your family. With that in mind, we’ve compiled a guide to some of the fireworks displays in San Diego County for the celebration of the United States’ 240th Independence Day.

On Saturday, July 2, you can view the fireworks display show sponsored by the San Ysidro Chamber of Commerce at Larsen Field. The actual fireworks display will start at 8:45 that evening, but starting at 3:00, you can fill your day with live mural painting, music, food, and drinks.

On Sunday, July 3, the Oceanside Fireworks show will begin at 9:00. Finally, on the fourth, the annual Coronado Independence Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. at First Street, traveling up through Churchill Place.

San Diego Fleet Week to be a tribute to our Navy

Military officials provided an update last Tuesday, June 14, about the many fun-filled activities and exciting programs that will be awaiting this year’s Fleet Week San Diego in San Diego, California.

Senior Chief Patrick McCormick said being part of the military is no easy task because “we’re working 24 hours a day sometimes.” He related to ABC News how his first deployment to Iraq was a traumatic experience because he lost a lot of his friends there. Fleet Week gives us a taste of what it’s like to serve the country as a Navy man or woman on a daily basis. Last year, around 100,000 people attended the event to bear witness to the Speed Fest and to be able to tour Navy ships and aircraft.
