San Diego celebrates Christmas fun for the family

For winter traditions that many would consider a must-do, head over to the Coronado Hotel to participate in Skating by the Sea, an event that gives skaters a view of the Coronado and the Pacific Beach and provides them with treats and seasonal goodies like hot chocolate.

Balboa Park hosted its 39th December Nights on Friday and Saturday, December 2 and 3 which started at 3 p.m. Event-goers were treated to food, knick knacks to buy, entertainment to see, and museums to visit.

Adults can pay $25 each and $15 to bring along their children to go aboard the Old Town Lights and Sights Trolley to view various Christmas decorations around San Diego, and of course, the wondrous Christmas lights.

San Diego Zoo Begins Annual “Jungle Bells” Attraction

As the holiday season approaches, the San Diego Zoo will be transformed into a “winter wonderland” themed park, complete with holiday programming, live performances, and other special attractions. This year, “Jungle Bells” will feature the “Twilight Light Trolley,” an attraction that takes guests on a tour of animal light sculptures. Visitors can also walk through trees adorned in holiday lights to the Northern Frontier’s Holiday Forest, where they can see animals that are accustomed to winter weather. Kids can also stop by Santa’s Igloo for a visit and photo with a jolly elf.

Additionally, the Reindeer Games—a program featuring fun games played by Rudolph and friends—will take place on the main stage. Puppet shows and other holiday plays will take place at the park, including a performance that details the long 100-year history of the San Diego Zoo. Musical performances include caroling group, The Tinseltones, and the Jingle Brass band.

The zoo’s daily hours will be extended to 8 p.m. so guests are able to experience the majesty of the holiday lighting.
