Restaurant Week September 16-21

San Diego Restaurant Week is coming up again! From Sunday September 16 to Friday September 21 nearly 200 restaurants will be participating in the much anticipated Restaurant Week. No need to purchase tickets, just visit www.sandiegorestaurantweek.com to find out which restaurants are participating!

Lunch includes a two-course meal priced at either $10, $15, or $20 depending on the restaurant, and dinner includes a three-course meal priced at either $20, $30, or $40 depending on the restaurant.

For the first time ever, San Diego Restaurant Week is hosting a kick-off, tasting event on Friday September 14 at the Broadway Pier. Attendees can purchase a $75 ticket that includes unlimited food and drinks that also helps the Food Bank of San Diego’s Backpack Program.

San Diego Sunroad Boat Show this weekend

San Diego condo rental agents of South Mission Beach are happy to announce the San Diego Sunroad Boat Show starting this weekend.

Students of Design Institute of San Diego win second place in AIA contest

Two interior design students at the Design Institute of San Diego recently won second place at the 2011 American Institute of Architects competition for designing a train car.

The contest asked interior design students across California to design the interior of a train car that would be comfortable and appeal to the leisure market. The students had six hours to develop and create their design. The students then had to present their designs, using visual aids, to the judges. Over $1,000 of prize money was given out to the winners of the competition.

The Design Institute of San Diego is a private four year college that features majors in the arts, technology, and business.

Whale watching in San Diego

Between the months of December and April, visitors and residents in San Diego have a unique opportunity to see the migration of California gray whales as they migrate from Alaska to the warmer water of California.

Every winter the whales come within miles of the San Diego coast on their 5,000-mile migration. This trip is the longest annual migration done by any mammal. During the peak times, there are as many as 200 whales per day that can be scene from San Diego coastline.

The Birch Aquarium at Scripps celebrates this season by offering educational activities and whale exhibits. Starting December 18, day excursions are offered for those who want to see the whales while sailing on a yacht.

Comedians featured in San Diego weekend events

Comedians took over the San Diego area over the weekend, beginning Thursday and going through Sunday. Also, many other events occurred over the weekend in order to start fall off with a bang.

First, San Diego restaurant week occurred last week and featured over 180 restaurants in the area. Restaurant menu’s featured fixed plates for a good deal in order for people to go out and try restaurants that they normally would not.

On Friday, San Diego State hosted the Gym Class Heroes and the Dan Band performed at the House of Blues. Comedian Margaret Cho also performed as a part of her Cho Dependent Tour.

Saturday morning there was a cleanup at the Mission Valley Preserve in an effort to keep the city beautiful. During the evening, Aziz Ansari and Cedric the Entertainer performed at Pala’s Starlight Theater.
