Virtual reality exhibits thrill Comic Con attendees

The Comic Con festival at the San Diego Convention Center in California on Thursday, January 21 hosted a ton of activities and events for its participants. There was something for everyone, young and old. Some of the most popular activities were virtual reality exhibits. One favorite was from the award-winning HBO television show Game of Thrones.

USA Network’s Mr. Robot also had a VR booth, which featured the character Elliott Anderson, who works as a computer programmer by day and hacker by night, as he took an adventure. Other attractions included tattoo booths featuring the characters of Suicide Squad such as Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, the Joker, and Enchantress. And of course, merchandise from all three shows, both free and for sale, was abundant.

Athletic events help San Diego economy and tourism

In a study done by the National University System Institute for Policy Research senior policy analyst Vince Vasquez, endurance events in San Diego, such as marathons and triathlons, generated a significant economic impact and created around 583 employment opportunities in 2013, KPBW reported on August 11.

Vasquez said the athletic and health lifestyle fits with San Diego culture, and such events gain large amounts of support each year. He noted that each person or family who comes in from out of town spends money in San Diego, at restaurants, tourist sites, hotels, and more.
