The weekend of October 11, San Diego once again celebrated the annual La Jolla Art & Wine Festival that served as a fundraiser for technology, on-site medical care, art, music, science, and physical education at local schools, the Times of San Diego reported.

The festival, which is one of the most celebrated events on the West Coast as attested by art and wine aficionados, showcased art works from over 150 artists from Southern and Baja California, and wine and beer from the top wineries and breweries around the world.

Little Italy Festa was also commemorated last weekend between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., giving attendees to the festivities in Little Italy the sights, the sounds, and the tastes of the European city with Italian cuisine, music, and art.

Fried food makes a splash at San Diego County Fair

The 2012 San Diego County Fair is almost here with a start date scheduled for June 8. This attraction draws large crowds to San Diego, with last year bringing in 1,412,113 people.

Fried food is a staple at the county fair, and the wide variety of foods dipped in batter can be overwhelming. Last year, attendees purchased more than 100,000 fried Kool Aid balls, 40,000 fried Oreos, and 20,000 fried avocados, and many other fried treats. Junior Theatre a pilot for Peter Pan

The San Diego Junior Theatre was selected as a pilot theatre for a popular Disney production. Disney’s Peter Pan will be performed by the artists at the Junior Theatre from now until May 13.

San Diego is visited by the Dalai Lama

On April 18, San Diego was visited by the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet. He will stay in San Diego through today, April 19th, in order to complete his three-part dialogue entitled, “Compassion Without Borders: Science, Peace, Ethics.”

Today, the Dalai Lama will visit the San Diego State University campus in order to deliver another part of his dialogue. He was also able to attend a ceremony in which he was honored at the University of San Diego. He was given the USD Medal of Peace. He informed the students at the universities that they need to focus on environmentalism instead of materialism.

The 76-year-old presented his speech inside a university basketball arena, in which 4,000 people were in attendance. The Dalai Lama will spend a total of five days in the state of California, spreading his message across the state.

San Diego Science Festival to take place this week

The San Diego Festival and Science Engineering is taking place this weekend in San Diego and events are scheduled to take place throughout the area.

San Diego Wrestling Club tournament this weekend

San Diego condo rental agents of South Mission Beach are happy to announce the sixth annual Bulldogs Rumble Wrestling Tournament hosted by the San Diego Wrestling Club.

Beginning Saturday at 1pm, the Bulldogs Rumble Wrestling Tournament will take place in the main auditorium of The Center in Hillcrest.  Tickets are a $5 donation to the club.

The San Diego Wrestling Club has been running for 14 years, and is the only year-round adult wrestling club in San Diego.  All ages, weights, and skills are represented in the club.  All are welcome to join and practices are held Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons.

NY Giants play the New England Patriots in Super Bowl

This weekend, the New England Patriots and the New York Giants will play one another in Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday in Indianapolis.   This is familiar territory for the two teams as they have played each other only four years ago in the 2008 Super Bowl.

Last time the Giants took home the title, and this year the Patriots are back to redeem themselves.  With a 15-3 record and 10 consecutive games won, the Patriots will not let the 12-7 Giants upset them again.
